Happy Birthday Bestie!

Today is a wonderful day...my bestie's birthday!
Top 5 Reasons Why I Love Her
  1. She is the best listener...ever.  I have cried my eyes out to her many times and she listens patiently.
  2. She is very wise.  You would think that she has lived 5 lifetimes and she is selfless and loving.
  3. She is passionate about what she loves which is a combo of Jesus, Athens Church, and reaching people through design aka creative set design, Passion, and the new Athens Church :)  God has something wonderful in store for her--we are praying it up right now.
  4. We balance each other out very well.  I tend to be hyper and she tends to be more mellow.
  5. She is the peanut butter on a pb&banana sandwich.
Now for some old pictures:

A Job Description

It was a total secret that I applied for this externship--did not even tell my mom and my dad or any of my dental school friends.  The only people that knew were Mollie, Kristin, Lindsey, Katherine, and Shannon.  It's hard to keep such a big secret!!!

ASDA Externships
The ASDA externship program is designed to give interested and motivated dental students a unique opportunity to experience the workings of organized dentistry in a variety of areas, including national and state health policy legislation, research, membership, tripartite and general administration. Externships are offered to predoctoral dental students who are committed to becoming leaders in organized dentistry both before and after graduation.
Externs receive a stipend, transportation to and from Chicago or Washington, D.C., and student housing.
Externs submit a program evaluation and final report that should describe the activities and accomplishments of the externship, as well as suggest goals and priorities for future externs. They also must submit a written report about their accomplishments during the externship.

And now for my part......
****CAPIR****
Council on Access, Prevention and Interprofessional Relations (CAPIR) Externship
One CAPIR Extern is selected to work with the ADA's Council on Access, Prevention and Interprofessional Relations.  Externs will participate in activities related to initiatives included in an ADA resolution titled 'Vulnerable Elderly'.  Externs may also assist in diversity projects and the planning and development of activities related to health literacy in dentistry.  Externs have specific responsibilities including, but not limited to, the completion of projects assigned by the Board of Trustees or their designates. In addition, externs are expected to identify projects to meet the needs and interests of dental students, and to develop and propose association policy, or policy revision, as needed.

I will get to be living in up to Chicago for 4 weeks this summer!!!  I already found out that "A Taste of Chicago" will happen on July 5, 2009, when I will be there.  Because I love food so much, this makes me very excited!

And I will get to do things like take a picture with "the bean."
I will get to go here---Millennium Park.
I get the best of both worlds--learning about dentistry while being in an incredible, incredible city.
I am so lucky and so excited....ahhh!!!!!!!!!!

Go Dawgs!

On Saturday, me and Kall had a party for the UGA/AU game!  It was awesome...everyone brought food and we had an amazing time.  The star of the night, besides the Bulldogs, was my pumpkin dip!!!  Oh my goodness...it was so good!  It was a Cooking Light recipe.  The only changes that I made to it was I used 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup splenda and I added in some pumpkin pie spice.  The dip was served with apples, but it would be wonderful on a bagel or anything else.  It is too die for!!!

A group shot of all my girlies.

My Auburn-licioius bike...the color part I don't like about it...the color.

Final Score:  Dawgs: 31 Tigers: 24
DAWGS WIN!  (Haven't got to say that in a while.)
I am in class right now..I probably should be paying attention....

Pass Out

I actually woke up at 4:30 am this morning despite going to bed well after eleven.  My sleeping issues are starting to come back again---which they have been non-existent almost all semester (praise Jesus!).  However, I am beginning to think that it happens when I am stressed internally--like how I couldn't sleep hardly at all when I had my 1st bad breakup, when I was in gross anatomy, and now that I am studying for boards and trying to take all my regular classes too.
Me and Kall went to the library to study immediately after class but not before having a quick picnic lunch--we always keep this sheet in the jeep in case we have to tote our bikes around--today it served as a blanket.  The weather was gorgeous.

Yes, this is an authentic picture of me asleep at the library that Kall took of me that I did not know about.  I needed a quick 30 minute power nap.

Tomorrow is our test on the endocrine system.  It is so complex and wonderful all at the same time.  The disorders that can occur when things are working are just awful---Cushing's syndrome, alpha-21-hydroxylase deficiency, hyperparathyroidism, etc. etc. etc.  Wish me luck!
I am so ready for the weekend---I have a bestie deserves a phone call very badly.
This is the verse I like to stay when I can't sleep:
"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD,  make me dwell in safety."  --Ps 4:8

Busy.

My life is so busy right now and I am overwhelmed.  I am trying to stay positive.  I have so much to do right now...the work load is never ending.  I just want Dec 23rd to get here.
